When initially looking around for a tool that matched my requirements for building this web
site I found and used CityDesk. Probably version 1.x I do not remember anymore.
Although it worked out ok I found it difficult to handle specific requirements,
I had used frames in the past and felt that users should always have a 'fixed' left
bar to navigate my site.
So I converted my site to a frames based version, using text editors for html and at one point a freeware editor called html-kit from www.chami.com . I then noticed that frames have disadvantages. When people find keywords from the mainframe in search engines, and click on the link, they do not get the page that I intended (with navigator bar at the left) but only the mainframe as a page in their browser. Now this is 'easily' handled with a bit of JavaScript but then you bump into behavior of different browsers. In the end a pretty complex script is required, that must be defined in all pages .... I did not like that.
So I rechecked CityDesk again, it appears that the most recent version (now using 2.0 Release Candidate), has additional features that I like. So I intend to stick to it for the moment.
